
Easy sauna DIY
Sauna bench towel from linen yarn—adorn your own sauna or give as a lovely gift
Sauna bench towel are always needed! Even beginners can master this easy craft. This two-colored bench cloth is made from Lappajärven Värjäämö dyehouses's linen yarn.
Size: 40 x 56 cm
Sauna bench towel—materials:
- 200 g of Veera linen yarn (if you’re making a two-colored bench cloth, choose a second color for the edge)
- Knitting needles size 4 (US 6), or adjust according to your gauge
- Crochet hook size 4 (US G/6), or adjust according to your gauge
Pattern stitch
Seed stitch, worked flat: On row 1, knit 1 stitch, purl 1 stitch. On row 2 and all following rows, purl the stitches that were knit on the previous row and knit the stitches that were purled on the previous row.
Gauge: 14 sts and 25 rows = 10 cm.
Make the sauna bench cloth
- Loosely cast on 55 sts. Work seed stitch for 55 cm. Bind off.
- Finish by crocheting single crochet around the edge with the second color.
- Begin at the top right corner: crochet 30 sc along the edge, turn your work, and make a hanging loop: chain 8, skip 5 sc, then slip stitch into the sixth sc. Turn your work. Chain 1, work 10 sc into the chain, then continue with 25 sc along the top edge. In each of the four corners, crochet 1 sc—1 ch—1 sc in the same stitch, then continue single crocheting evenly around the edge. Finish by slip stitching into the first sc, cut the yarn, and pull it through.
- Weave in the yarn ends.
