Could an elf move into your home? Build a charming elf door to make the countdown to Christmas especially thrilling. You’ll need a miniature door, a window, a mailbox, and skis, plus decorative trees and artificial snow. A battery-powered string of lights also works well in the arrangement. Attaching everything to the wall is easy with double-sided tape.

Here’s how to build an elf door:
- Attach the door, window, and mailbox to the wall with double-sided tape.
- Lean the skis next to the door, and place a doormat in front.
- If you wish, decorate the area around the door with decorative spruces and artificial snow.
Tip! A battery-powered string of lights adds a beautiful sparkle to your arrangement. Once everything is attached, position the lights in front of the door and tape them to the floor if needed. Finally, cover the floor with artificial snow.
What exactly is an elf door?
An elf door is a miniature doorway, much like a fairy door, that has become a modern holiday tradition in many Finnish homes. It’s placed at floor level, allowing an elf to slip into the house to take care of Christmas preparations. A tiny mailbox often sits beside it so children can drop off their letters to Santa.
