Folding magic: make honeycomb balls from old book pages
Make honeycomb balls with supplies you likely already have at home! Hang the ornaments on Christmas tree branches or set them out to brighten a table setting.
Honeycomb balls—what you’ll need:
- old book pages
- glue
- scissors
- a saucer
- string or fishing line for hanging

How to make honeycomb balls:
- For one honeycomb ball, you’ll need about 16 paper circles. Cut them using a saucer as a template, then fold each circle in half.
- Run a line of glue along the center of the folded circle and press it closed. On each folded circle, draw a crosswise line of glue inside the fold and press to seal. Then assemble the circles into the honeycomb: on the first half-circle, apply two lines of glue on either side of the center and press the next circle in place. Glue the remaining circles on top in the same way. You can find illustrated instructions for the same folding technique in the cupcake liner ball article.
- Glue a piece of string or fishing line to the spine of the stacked circles, then open the sides to form the ball. Secure with glue.
