5 easy spruce-themed decorations: edible dough spruces, cardboard Christmas trees, and more!
Cut, glue, bake, and shape. We’ve picked five delightful DIY decoration ideas that showcase the spruce as the star.
1. A felt spruce for utensils

Make an adorable utensil pouch from felt. Place the utensils on the back side of the felt and draw a spruce shape around them, adding two cut lines at the base to match the utensils’ width. Cut out the spruce following the outline. Decorate the front side of your felt spruce with embroidery stitches.
2. A modern spruce ornament from twigs

You can easily create stylish spruce-like decorations from small twig pieces. Cut the twigs into various lengths and glue them onto paper in the shape of a spruce. Then cut out the shape. The decoration looks especially nice on a present but also works well for Christmas card crafting.
3. Knot a durable spruce for your door or window

Knot a macramé spruce using simple knots for your front door or wall. Any round yarn, string, cord, or twine will work. The spruce in the photo is 30 centimeters (12″) tall. See the instructions [in Finnish] at meko.fi/makrameekuusi.
4. Bake a spruce you can nibble on

If you have extra dough left from baking pies, use it for pie decorating. Cut 7 to 8 spruce shapes with a cutter, brush egg white on them, and arrange them on top. Once the pie is cooled, finish it up with some powdered sugar.
5. Craft a spruce forest from cardboard

Cardboard spruce trees are easy to make using inexpensive materials. Attach the spruces together with a ribbon and hang them by the window. Instead of cardboard, you can also use leftover wallpaper or pages from old books. Check out the instructions here [in Finnish]!
