Macramé spruce: knot a durable spruce for your front door or wall
A macramé spruce works as a decoration for your front door! You can use any round yarn, string, cord, or twine. The spruce is knotted entirely with square knots. The pictured spruce is about 30 centimeters (12″) tall and was made with 6 millimeter (bulky) yarn.
Macramé spruce supplies:
- Yarn suitable for macramé
- Star-shaped cookie cutter
- Measuring tape
- Scissors
Macramé spruce instructions:
- Attach two 2-meter (6 ft 6 in) strands of yarn to the cookie cutter with lark’s head knots.
- Knot the entire spruce using square knots. Make a couple of edge increases every other row, then every third row. After the fourth row, leave two strands unknotted at the edges of rows following increased rows. If you’d like, string large, colorful beads here and there as Christmas balls.
- Finish the piece with half hitch knots, then brush and trim the fringes.
