How to knit the We love winter! colorwork socks
1. Cast on 64 sts with the main color onto double-pointed needles and distribute them 16-16-16-16. The beginning of the round is between needles IV and I, at the center back. Begin the ribbing according to Chart A. Work all rows of the chart. Then knit 1 rnd in stockinette while evenly increasing 2 sts on each needle.

2. Then move on to Chart B. After knitting all rows of Chart B, you will have 14-13-13-14 sts on your needles. Redistribute the sts as indicated in the chart.

3. The heel flap is knitted with the main color; in the sample sock, it's white. Begin by knitting the sts on needle I onto needle IV = 28 sts.
Leave the remaining sts on hold. Turn your work.
Reinforced stitch pattern:
Row 1 (WS): Slip the first st and purl the remaining sts. Turn.
Row 2 (RS): *Slip 1 st, k1*. Repeat *–* until the end of the row. Turn.
Repeat rows 1–2 for a total of 26 rows.
4. Work another WS row and begin the heel turn:
Knit from the right edge until 13 sts remain, knit 2 sts together through the back loop or ssk, k1, then turn your work. (10 side sts remain)
Slip the first st, purl until 13 sts remain, purl 2 sts together, p1, then turn your work. (10 side sts remain)
Slip the first st, knit until 11 sts remain, knit 2 sts together through the back loop or ssk, k1, then turn. (8 side sts remain)
Slip the first st, purl until 11 sts remain, purl 2 sts together, p1, then turn. (8 side sts remain)
Slip the first st, knit until 9 sts remain, knit 2 sts together through the back loop or ssk, k1, then turn. (6 side stitches remain)
Continue in the same manner until the side sts are used up and 16 center sts remain. The heel is now finished.
5. Using a free needle, k8 from the right edge of the work (= needle IV). The yarn is now at the center of the heel. Pick up the sts and work the gusset decreases according to Chart C, row 1. Break off both colors after finishing row 20 of Chart C.

6. Begin again at the right edge of the foot and follow Chart D. The beginning of the round now moves here. Note that there is a separate chart for each sock, though you can also knit both socks in the same way if you prefer.

7. When your little toe is covered, begin the toe decreases in the main color (white in the sample sock):
Rnd 1: On needles I and III, k1, ssk, then knit to the end of the needle. On needles II and IV, knit until 3 sts remain, knit 2 sts together, k1.
Rnd 2: Knit.
Repeat these two rnds until there are 8 sts left on each needle. Then continue decreasing on every rnd (as in Rnd 1) until 2 sts remain on each needle. Break the yarn, draw it through the remaining sts, and tighten the toe.
8. Weave in all ends on the WS. Steam the socks lightly through a damp cloth.
