Transform wallpaper scraps into a stunning Christmas star for your window—here’s how!

Learn how to make a beautiful Christmas star for your window using paper or even wallpaper scraps. With these simple instructions, you can create stars of various sizes. Watch the video at the end of the article!

Materials you’ll need for your Christmas star:

  • A square piece of wallpaper, craft paper, or scrapbooking paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • String for hanging

How to make the Christmas star for your window

1. Cut a square piece of paper. This sample star measures 32 x 32 cm, but for the larger window star, you can use the full width of a wallpaper strip. First, fold the paper in half vertically and horizontally with the right sides facing each other. Then, fold it diagonally into triangles in both directions with the wrong sides facing each other. When you unfold the paper, the creases will form the star shape. Press the folds firmly.

2. Place the patterned side of the paper face down. Using a pencil, mark the halfway points on the vertical and horizontal folds. Cut along these folds up to the marks you’ve made.

3. Fold the corners created by the cuts towards the center until the edges meet, forming a point of the star. Repeat for all four corners.

4. Apply glue to one side of each point and press the sides firmly together. Use clothespins to hold them in place. Now, half of your Christmas star is ready. Make the second half in the same way.

5. Apply glue to the base of each point on one half of the star—a drop on each side. Align and press the two halves of the star together to join them.
