Turn toilet paper rolls into cute tiny houses—easy DIY village for your table or Christmas tree
Is that a gnome peeking out? The round little house is built from a toilet paper roll, and the snowy roof is cut from white glitter craft foam. You can make the roof from cardboard, too. The houses look fun together when you make them slightly different heights and paint them in delicious pastels.

Hanging house made from a toilet paper roll—instructions:
1. Cut the toilet paper rolls into sections about 3–7 centimeters (1¼–2¾″) tall to form the house walls.
2. Use scissors to cut doorways in the houses. A hole punch makes neat little windows.

3. Paint the house walls with acrylic paint and let them dry.

4. Thin some craft glue by mixing in a little water. Brush the glue mixture around the doorway and windows and sprinkle on glitter. If you like, you can add glitter all the way around the house.

5. Using, for example, a mug as a template, cut a circle from the glitter craft foam for the roof—about 7–8 centimeters (2¾–3⅛″) in diameter. Cut away one quarter of the circle so you can bend and glue the roof into a cone. If you don’t want a straight edge on the roof, first cut a wavy or scalloped edge.
6. Glue the roof to the house. Cut a small piece of paper straw for the chimney and glue it in place.
7. If you want to hang the houses, add hanging strings at the end.
