Make a fun, unique tile table for your home—here’s how!
You can make a tile table easily from a tabletop or a ready-made table. The tiled surface is simple to keep clean. You can make the table even more eye-catching by choosing a grout color that matches the rest of your décor. Check out these instructions from passionate interior decorator Meri-Tuuli Laaksonen!
Tile table—supplies:
- tiles
- tile adhesive
- grout
- a tabletop and legs or a ready-made table
- a notched trowel for applying tile adhesive and a soft sponge.

How to make a tile table
- When choosing tiles, favor glossy, glazed options that make it easy to spread and wipe off excess grout. If you want to make it really easy, you can go for prefabricated tile sheets—which are simpler to line up neatly than individual tiles.
- Get a tabletop based on the size of the tiles. It’s much simpler if you don’t have to cut any tiles, and the finished result will look tidier.
- Spread tile adhesive evenly across the tabletop using a notched trowel and press the tiles into place. Let dry for about a day.
- Spread the grout with a soft sponge, working from corner to corner. Let it dry, then wipe away the excess.
Tip!
A contrasting grout color makes your DIY tile table stand out. Match the grout to the rest of your decor or pick something completely different. For colorful tiles, white grout is a great choice.
