
Knit a striped seaside set: Easy instructions for a charming pillow and throw
A striped pillow and throw blanket look lovely together or on their own. Fresh colors and a classic striped texture fit many decorating styles. The pillow is worked in stockinette stitch, while the blanket is knitted in seed stitch.
Striped pillow

Size: about 40 × 40 cm.
Gauge: 12 sts and 18 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch.
Supplies:
- Lankava Moi braided yarn (80% recycled cotton, 20% polyester, 500 g = approx. 300 m), 220 g in natural white (52) and 170 g in black (70)
- 60–80 cm or 100 cm circular needle, size 6 mm or according to your tension
- stitch marker
- 40 cm natural white zipper
- inner pillow 40 × 40 cm
- white sewing thread
Abbreviations:
- sts: stiches
- k: knit
- p: purl
Striped pillow—instructions:
- Cast on 96 sts in white yarn onto a 60 or 80 cm circular needle using the regular method, or onto a 100 cm circular needle if you use Judy’s Magic Cast-On (you can find tutorial videos on YouTube if needed). Mark the start of the round and move the marker as you work.
- Work in stockinette stitch with stripes as follows: 7 rounds in white, *7 rounds in black, 7 rounds in white*, repeat from * to * 3 more times for a total of 9 stripes.
- Weave in the ends. Soak the cover in warm water and lay it flat to dry. Turn the cover and sew the opposite stitches on the top edge together if you used the standard cast-on method. Hand-sew the zipper at the center of the lower edge.
Striped blanket

Size: 100 × 170 cm.
Gauge: 10–10.5 sts and 15 rows = 10 × 10 cm.
Supplies:
- Lankava Moi braided yarn (80% recycled cotton, 20% polyester, 500 g = approx. 300 m) 1.2 kg in natural white (52) and 1 kg in black (70)
- 80–100 cm circular needle, size 7 mm or according to your tension
Striped throw blanket—instructions:
1. Cast on 110 sts with natural white yarn. Work extended seed stitch:
- Row 1: *K1, P1*, repeat from * to * until the end of the row.
- Row 2: Slip the first stitch as if to knit, *P1, K1*, repeat from * to * and end with P1, turn.
- Rows 3–4: Slip the first stitch as if to knit, *K1, P1*, repeat from * to * and end with P1, turn.
- Row 5: Work as Row 2.
2. Repeat Rows 2–5 to continue the pattern. Stripe as follows: 15 rows in white, *16 rows in black, 16 rows in white*, repeat from * to * 7 more times for a total of 17 stripes. Always switch colors on the 4th row of the pattern stitch to keep the join neat. Bind off loosely in seed stitch.
3. Finish your striped blanket by weaving in the ends and sewing them securely into the stitches so they won’t unravel when washed.
