You really don’t need these! 5 categories to declutter today
Finland-based Liisa Niiranen pared down a large amount of household belongings when she moved to a smaller home. If your home feels overstuffed, Liisa’s five-point list will help you get started with decluttering!
1. Broken dishes, clothes, and other items
“Let go of mugs with broken handles, chipped dishes, damaged clothes, and items that have been waiting to be repaired for far too long.”
2. Outgrown and unused hobby gear
“Kettlebells, hula hoops, resistance bands, and dumbbells left sitting in a corner after the initial excitement—as well as skates and skis that have been outgrown—are ready to be passed on.”
3. Seldom-used appliances and kitchen tools
“Free up cabinet space by letting go of the waffle iron, bread machine, apple corer, grater, citrus squeezer, and other tools you don’t reach for.”
4. Reusable bags
“They’re handy for shopping, carrying things, and storage, but if you have a lot sitting idle in cupboards and storage areas, pass the extras along.”
5. “Important” household papers
“You’re unlikely to miss old receipts, warranty receipts and bills, or notes from your school days.”
