Done in just 5 minutes
Add a carnival twist to your basic candles: polka-dot them in minutes!
Light-colored basic candles get a polka-dot makeover with effect-colored stearin. Apply the pattern more densely around the bottom of the candle for a beautiful gradient effect.
Polka-dot candles: what you’ll need
- White or light-colored stearin candles
- Colored stearin candles for making the dots
- Parchment paper to protect the table.
Polka-dot candles: instructions
- Place the taper candles on a sheet of parchment paper on the table. Lay out a few candles at a time so you can add polka dots to multiple candles at once.
- Light the effect-colored candle, let its stearin melt, and drip it onto the candle surfaces as polka dots. Put more dots near the bottom and fewer toward the top. Try mixing several colors, too!
- Allow the dots to harden, then turn the candles to reveal the other side. Repeat, then let them harden again.
- You can also add different-colored dots to a single candle.
