How to knit the Pilkut hat

Working with Woolly Wood and Tuuli mohair yarn held together, CO 108 sts onto circular needle and start working in Twisted Rib St in the round: Work *K1 tbl, P1* and rep *-*. PM for BOR.
Once the ribbing measures 12 cm / 4.75", turn the work inside out so that the WS of the ribbing is now showing. On the next rnd, work in St St in the round from left to right (as usual). However, the knitting direction has changed in relation to the previous rnds. When worked like this, the RS of the folded ribbing will be on the outside of the finished hat.
Work 2 rnds in St St in the round. On the next rnd, start working the colorwork pattern following the chart. When the colorwork measures 12 cm / 4.75", place locking stitch markers to mark the following sts: counting from BOR, 27th st, 54th st, 81st st, 108th st. Continue working the colorwork pattern following the chart and at the same time start working decreases on the following Rnd 3: *Work as est to 2 sts before the marked st, K2tog, K the marked st, SSK.* Rep *-* at each M. A total of 8 sts decreased; you now have 100 sts on the needles.
Continue working the colorwork pattern following the chart until the top, and at the same time, repeat decreases on each Rnd 3 of the chart—that is, on every 3rd rnd. Always work the decreases, as well as one st on each side of the marked st, with MC. Make sure the black st within the colorwork pattern stays aligned with the ones on previous rnds.
Repeat Chart Rows 1–3 until you have 12 sts left. Cut the yarn and thread it through the remaining sts.
Finishing
Weave in ends. Steam block gently. Fold the edge two or three times and optionally secure it slightly over the hat body worked in colorwork pattern.
