Origami dove: instructions

1. Fold an A4 sheet diagonally into a triangle and trim off the excess at the bottom to make a square.

2. Fold the triangle in half along the center.

3. Fold one side of the triangle in half.

4. Repeat with the other side. Now your piece has three sections.

5. Fold the top corner of the triangle down to meet the bottom edge. The corner should touch the center crease.

6. Unfold the last two folds.

7. Fold the top wing down along the horizontal line as shown in the picture.

8. The wing already has two creases. Fold the triangle inward along these creases as shown in the picture.

9. Turn the piece over and make the same two folds on the other side.

10. From above, your piece should now look like this.

11. Turn the piece upside down (top edge becomes the bottom). Lift the wings up on both sides.

12. Fold the dove's tail down.

13. Fold the tail in half so that the long edges meet.

14. Open the tail as shown in the picture and...

15. ...fold it down again so that both sides look the same.

16. Fold the beak down and open it.

17. Fold the middle crease of the beak inward so it looks the same from both sides.

18. Make an olive branch by twisting thin floral wire. Cut a few small pieces of floral tape, each a few centimeters long. Twist each piece into a ‘bow’ shape and attach them to the branch.

19. Use scissors to trim the leaves into the elongated shape of olive leaves. Glue the branch to the bird’s beak.

20. Hang the bird. The closer the hanging hole is to the front, the more upright the bird will fly.
