What’s the most expensive Moomin mug? We listed 9 of the most valuable and rare ones—plus a new surprise!
Did you know a Moomin mug can fetch tens of thousands of euros? With only small batches made of the rarest designs, finding one is a true collector’s dream.
The most valuable Moomin mug is now considered to be the special Fazer edition from 2004. Only 400 numbered pieces were made, some of which have sold for as much as €16,000. You can get nearly the same price for the Moomintroll Daydreaming mug, released one year later. Only 2,005 were produced to match its release year. It was designed for the Arabia Museum’s Moomin exhibition, and because of its rarity, you can earn nearly €3,000 for it.
The most unusual mug never went on sale
The mug featuring Moomintroll diving was Arabia’s first summer season mug, introduced in 2006. A trial batch of about 300 was reportedly produced, with pale seashells on a blue background. However, the design changed at the last minute, and those trial pieces were gifted to Arabia’s staff. The mug made headlines in 2021 when it broke the record price at an online auction, selling for nearly €24,000. Still, many collectors do not consider it a collectible because it was never actually offered for sale to consumers.
