Knitted Christmas ball from leftover yarn: here’s how to make this holiday’s most heartfelt ornaments
All you need to make this knitted Christmas ball is a small amount leftover yarn—only a few grams. The beautiful ornament is a charming way to finish a gift package or decorate your Christmas tree.
Diameter of Christmas ball: 8 cm.
I heart you Christmas ball: supplies
- Novita Nalle yarn, for instance in white (011) and denim (160). You only need a few grams of yarn for each ball.
- Needles 3 mm (US 2.5) or according to your gauge
- Crochet hook 3 mm (US D)
- Fiberfill for stuffing

How to make the Knitted Christmas ball
- Cast on 12 sts with the blue yarn, distributing them evenly onto 4 needles. Begin knitting the ball in the round from row 1 of the chart.
- For each increase, pick up the strand between sts onto your left needle and knit it in the color indicated in the chart. After a few rounds, use a tapestry needle to tighten the cast-on tail inside the ball so the opening closes.
- For the decreases (marked with \), knit two sts together with the color indicated in the chart.
- After row 36, stuff the ball firmly before closing. When two sts remain total, cut the yarn (make sure to leave a long tail) and thread it through the remaining stitches.
- Crochet a hanging loop of around 50 chain stitches and attach it to the ball with a tapestry needle. Enjoy the holidays!
