Light up your window or garden with spooky Halloween bottles
Get ready for Halloween by painting some scary-looking bottles. When you add a string of lights inside, the cats and other oddities shine with an extra glow.
Halloween light bottles—supplies:
- An empty glass bottle
- Acrylic paints
- A paintbrush
- A cleaning sponge
Halloween light bottles—instructions:

1. Soak the bottle until the label peels off. It also comes off easily if you warm the bottle briefly in the oven. Before painting, make sure there are no greasy marks or glue left on the glass.

2. First, paint the background color. You’ll get the smoothest finish by dabbing it on with a small piece of cleaning sponge. Round off the sponge’s edges so the painted surface looks more even.

3. If you like, you can sketch the design on the bottle with a chalk paint marker. It’s easier to paint over a drawn figure if you can use the guidelines for support. Once the paint is dry, wipe away the lines with a paper towel.

4. The cat’s eyes stand out nicely in yellow. You can also finish the cat with paint markers, which make small details easier to add.

5. Once the paint is dry, place a thin string of lights inside the bottle. This makes the design glow in a spookily exciting way.
