Grow leftover onions into fresh shoots—it’s easy and fun!
Sprouting onions are perfect for growing fresh, juicy shoots. If they’re not used, they’ll eventually dry out and become inedible.
1. Plant in soil and a pot
Create a charming onion pot by covering just one-third of the onions with soil. Let the soil dry out between waterings.

2. Grow onion shoots in water
Select a container just large enough for the onion, and add enough water to barely touch its bottom. Change the water every few days.

3. Harvest by snipping
When the onion shoots are about twenty centimeters long, trim them back to around five centimeters. The onion may even grow a second batch of leaves!
