Rose begonia, also known as paulina begonia, dazzles with its wide range of colors. It’s also an easy-care potted plant that thrives in a bright spot.
Rose begonia, also known as begonia 'Elatior' is a popular plant. It’s available year-round: in winter, it brightens indoor spaces, and in summer, you can grow it on a balcony in a pot or in a garden flower bed.
The color range of rose begonia is impressively wide: in addition to white, various shades of red, yellow, and orange are available. The fullness of its flowers can also vary by variety.
How to care for a rose begonia
Location
Place rose begonia indoors in the brightest possible spot, but avoid direct, harsh sunlight. That way, it will bloom longer. Outdoors, it’s best to keep it in partial or full shade. If you plant it in full sun, make sure to water it thoroughly.
Normal room temperature is best for rose begonia. You can plant it outdoors once the temperature stays around 10 degrees throughout the day and night.
Growing medium
Use a standard, airy potting mix that may also include coarser materials like sand.
Watering
Water regularly from the saucer or from above. Never let the soil dry out completely; otherwise, the flowers and buds will wither and fall off.
Fertilizing
Add fertilizer to the water every couple of weeks.
