Dried flower artwork—press flowers and create a summery piece

This irresistibly summery flower piece is easy to make: simply press your flowers, then arrange them in a transparent photo frame. You can lay them in a haphazard design, group them as a bouquet, or even arrange them to form a letter.

Dried flower artwork—supplies:

  • flowers
  • newspaper, tissue, or absorbent paper
  • cardstock
  • transparent photo frame

Dried flower artwork—instructions:

  1. Gather wildflowers or homegrown summer blooms—leaves look lovely too! Press the flowers to dry them: lay them on newspaper, tissue, or absorbent paper placed on top of cardstock. Cover with another sheet of paper, gently press to flatten, and add another piece of cardstock. Weigh them down with books for at least a week.
  2. Open the transparent photo frame and arrange your fully dried, pressed flowers on the backing however you like—stems and all, or just the blooms. Close the frame and hang up your artwork.

Tip!

Wait until your flowers are completely dry before crafting or arranging them. Small, delicate blooms can fully dry in a few days or weeks if conditions are right, while sturdier varieties might need up to a month. Pressing can also take a little longer than air-drying.
