Line up your photos with these cute and easy air-drying clay stands
Your travel memories and summer photos won't end up buried in your phone if you print them and show them off. A stand made from air-drying clay is also perfect for postcards and school pictures.

Photo stand—supplies:
air-drying clay
craft mat
knife
rolling pin
cookie cutters
a plastic card (roughly credit-card sized)
acrylic paint
brush
(craft varnish)
Adjust the stand to match your photo’s size. The bigger the photo, the wider and deeper the stand.
Photo stand—instructions:

1. Roll out a consistently thick slab of air-drying clay, about 1.5–2 cm (0.6–0.8 inches) thick. Cut it into the shape you want with a knife, or use a cookie cutter. If you use a cutter, trim the bottom edge so the stand has a flat base and stays upright.
2. Smooth the surface with damp hands or a plastic card.

3. Press the plastic card into the top edge to create a slot for the photo. For small stands, about 1 cm (about 0.4 inches) deep is enough. For larger stands, about 2 cm (about 0.8 inches) works well.
4. Let the stands dry completely.

5. Paint the photo stands with acrylic paint and let them dry. For a durable, glossy finish, apply a coat of craft varnish.
