A floral fan is the cutest accessory for the summer—check out our easy guide
Fold sheets of paper into an accordion and trim the edges into a curve to form a flower fan. Add patterned paper in the center or paint it with watercolors. You can also use the same method to create decorative fans.
Floral fan materials:
4 sheets of A4-sized paper
Thin patterned paper or tissue paper
Paper glue
Hot glue
Scissors
Ruler
Pencil
2 wooden craft sticks
Floral fan instructions:

1. Fold three A4 sheets into an accordion. To get evenly spaced folds, first fold each sheet into four sections, then eight, and finally 16.
2. Unfold and flatten the sheets on your work surface. Draw and cut a curved shape at each corner: measure and mark a point which is 5 cm from the corner along the short edge of the sheet. Make marks on both short edges for a total of four marks. Also mark the midpoints on both long edges. Using freehand or a plate as a guide, draw a curved line on the right side of the sheet, connecting the short-edge marks with the midpoint of the long edge. Repeat on the left side. Cut along these lines to create a curved shape. Use the cut sheet as a template for the remaining two sheets.

3. Take a new, unfolded sheet to use as a pattern. Trace the curved shape onto it, then draw another line about 5 cm inside, following the same curve, and cut along that line. Using this new pattern, cut three pieces from thin patterned paper, and glue them to the centers of the flattened accordion-folded sheets with paper glue.

4. Fold the papers back into an accordion and then fold each sheet in half to form two petals of the flower. Use paper glue to join the sheets together at their side folds to create the flower, but leave the outermost edges of the two end sheets unglued. Attach the wooden craft sticks with hot glue at these edges to make the fan handles.
Tips! If you like, you can color the fan with watercolors or other paints. You can also finish it by tying a fabric ribbon in a bow around the handle.
