  • crochet hooks, 5 mm (US H/8) and 8 mm (US L/11), or size needed to obtain gauge

Triangular baskets—pattern

The basket is crocheted in a spiral from the base to the top edge using knit stitches (ks).

First, edge the wooden basket base using the smaller hook as follows. Insert the hook through the hole at the tip of the triangle, yarn over and pull through, yarn over again and pull through the loop on the hook. Work 1 single crochet (sc) in each hole on the base, 2 sc in each corner, simultaneously working the yarn tail into the stitches. Crochet the last sc into the tip of the triangle, in the same hole as the first stitch = 53 stitches.

Continue in a spiral with the larger hook, and crochet knit stitches (ks) as follows:

Insert the hook through the center of the single crochet so that the hook goes under the horizontal strand behind the stitch. Yarn over and finish as you would a single crochet.

Round 1: Crochet 1 ks in each stitch – 53 sts. Mark the beginning of the round and move the marker up as you work.

Repeat Round 1 five more times or until the basket is 8 cm (3″) tall.

Finally, crochet 1 slip stitch (sl st) in each stitch. Cut the yarn and fasten off invisibly.

If you wish, make the baskets in different heights for even more versatile storage. They will then form a fun stepped arrangement.

The baskets are perfect for storing sewing supplies like ribbons, threads, and fabric scraps, for example.
