Kurikka Rug—pattern:
The rug is worked flat in single crochet with two colors, following the chart. Carry the second color inside your stitches throughout, making sure it stays at an even tension. At the end of each row, leave the carried yarn on the wrong side one stitch before the edge. To change colors, complete the final yarn over of the last stitch with the new color.
With natural white yarn, ch 51 for the foundation chain.
Row 1: Work 1 sc in the 2nd ch from the hook. Bring in the black yarn, sc in next 48 sts in white, carrying the black yarn inside the stitches. Work 1 sc without the black yarn, then turn = 50 sts.
Row 2: Ch 1, bring in black yarn, sc in next 49 sts in white, carrying the black yarn inside the stitches. Work 1 sc without the black yarn, turn, and begin following the chart.

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in next 8 sts in white, *sc in next 2 in black, sc in next 14 in white*, repeat from * to * once more, then 2 sc in black and 8 sc in white. Continue following the chart and repeat Rows 3–54 three times = 158 rows. Then work Rows 3–36 once more = 192 rows. Finally, work 2 rows in white in the same way as at the start. Fasten off and weave in the yarn ends inside the stitches.
