
No loom needed! Crochet a rag rug and bring cozy cabin vibes to your city home
This crocheted rag rug will bring a sweet pastel breeze to your home. The easy pattern is designed by bestselling craft author Molla Mills.
Finished size: 52 × 200 cm (21″ × 79″).
Crocheted rag rug—supplies:
- Lankava Aino rag rug yarn (100 % recycled cotton, 1–2 kg per pack = 4 rolls): 8 rolls in pastels (9)
- Lilli tube yarn (80 % recycled cotton, 20 % polyester, 1 kg ≈ 220 m): 400 g lion yellow (21) and 600 g mint (9)
- Fringe: 12-ply Molla cotton twine (100 % cotton, 500 g ≈ 1 280 m): 200 g mint green (70)
- 12 mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
Abbreviations:
- ch = chain stitch
- sc = single crochet
Gauge: 7 rows = 10 cm (about 4″).
Crocheted rag rug—pattern:
- With rag rug yarn, ch 45 for the foundation chain.
- Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, *sc in next st, ch 1, skip next st*; repeat from * to * across, then sc in last 2 sts.
- Row 2: ch 1, sc in next st, *1 sc in ch-1 space, ch 1*; repeat from * to * across, sc in last 2 sts.
- Repeat Row 2 for another 12 rows using the rag rug yarn. Then work the following stripe sequence 7 times: 2 rows mint, 2 rows lion yellow, 2 rows mint, and 14 rows rag rug yarn. Fasten off and weave in the ends.
Finishing
Add fringe to both ends of the rug as follows: Cut mint cotton twine into 20 cm (8″) lengths. For each fringe, hold 6 strands together, fold the bundle in half, draw the loop through the first edge stitch and knot firmly. Attach fringe to every other stitch.
