Small lace bauble

Round 1: Make a magic ring, ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 23 dc into the ring (24 dc total). Join with a sl st to the third ch and pull the yarn tail to close the ring.
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), 2 dc in each of the next 2 dc. Ch 3, *1 dc in each of the next 3 dc, ch 3*; repeat from * to * around. Sl st to the third ch of the beginning ch-3.
Round 3: Ch 1, 1 sc in the sl st, ch 1, 2 dc tog (work 2 dc, leaving the last loop of each on the hook, yarn over, pull through all 3 loops on the hook), *ch 4, 1 sc in the next ch-space, ch 4, 3 dc tog (work 3 dc, leaving the last loop of each on the hook, yarn over, pull through all 4 loops)*; repeat from * to * 6 more times. Ch 4, 1 sc in the next ch-space, ch 2, 1 dc in the 2-dc cluster. Fasten off and weave in the ends on the wrong side.
Joining
Crochet a second identical piece but do not fasten off. Place the pieces with wrong sides facing each other and join them with a zigzag join like this: *ch 3 (with the yarn you didn’t fasten off) + 1 sc in the first ch-space of the piece, ch 3 + 1 sc in the second ch-space of the piece*; repeat all the way around. Work a few sl sts to finish, fasten off, and weave in the ends.

Shaping
Slip a balloon between the two halves through the largest opening and inflate it until the piece is nicely rounded.
Stiffening
Mix craft glue and water in a 1:1 ratio and coat the baubles with the solution. A paintbrush or sponge works well for applying it. Hang to dry overnight in a well-ventilated spot until completely dry and stiff. Pop and remove the balloons.
