These crocheted gingerbread cookies are fun and versatile ornaments. The “icing” is embroidered onto the finished cookies with white cotton yarn. With this pattern, you can make cookies in three different sizes.
Crocheted gingerbread cookies—materials:
- brown (68) Drops Safran yarn (100% cotton, 50 g = 160 m) and white cotton yarn for the embroidery
- 4 mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Large cookie
For Rounds 1–4, begin with chain 2 and join with a slip stitch to the first stitch.
- Round 1: Make a magic ring and work 12 double crochets into it – 12 sts.
- Round 2: *2 dc in each st*. Repeat from * to * 12 times – 24 sts.
- Round 3: *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st*. Repeat from * to * 12 times – 36 sts.
- Round 4: *1 dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st*. Repeat from * to * 12 times – 48 sts.
Round 5: *Skip next 2 sts, 7 tr (treble crochet) in next st, skip next 2 sts, sl st in next st*. Repeat from * to * 8 times.
Make two identical pieces and sew them together with wrong sides facing.
Medium cookie
For Rounds 1–3, begin with ch 2 and join with a sl st to the first st.
- Round 1: Make a magic ring and work 12 dc into it – 12 sts.
- Round 2: *2 dc in each st*. Repeat from * to * 12 times – 24 sts.
- Round 3: *1 dc, 2 dc in next st*. Repeat from * to * 12 times – 36 sts.
- Round 4: *Skip 1 st, 6 dc in next st, skip 1 st, sl st in next st*. Repeat from * to * 9 times.
