Oh, how lovely! Create a giant, trendy flower lamp from crepe paper
This striking flower lamp is surprisingly easy to make from crepe paper. You’ll also need an LED bulb and a lamp cord.
Crepe paper flower lamp supplies:
Two different colors of 180g crepe paper for the petals (about 110 × 50 cm for the large petals and about 75 × 50 cm for the small petals)
Two different colors of 90g crepe paper for the stamens (15 × 50 cm each)
A piece of thick cardboard
Scissors
A stapler
Paper glue
Hot glue gun
A lamp socket with a cord
A large LED decorative bulb
Tip! Use strong, stretchy crepe paper.
Crepe paper flower lamp instructions:
1. Cut a 15 cm disc from thick cardboard. Cut out a hole that fits the inner portion of the lamp socket’s threaded flange. Then use paper glue to cover both sides of the disc with the large-petal crepe paper.
2. Cut the crepe paper vertically into 12 pieces measuring 18 × 25 cm, then trim each one into a petal shape. For the smaller petals, cut 9 pieces from a different color measuring 15 × 20 cm.
3. Stretch each petal by hand to form a concave shape, and add a few lengthwise folds. Then fold the bottom edges into an accordion shape and staple both sides.
4. Glue six large petals, concave side up, evenly along the middle of the cardboard disc with hot glue. Flip the disc over and glue the remaining large petals, concave side down, overlapping the first set.
5. Glue the smaller petals in a circle with the concave side facing down, about 1 cm closer to the center of the disc than the previous layers.
6. Cut a 15 × 50 cm piece of thinner crepe paper vertically. Fringe one long side into 12 × 1 cm strips and roll them into tubes. Leave the tips of the fringe unglued.
7. Cut the second stamen paper the same way. Then hot glue the stamen strips around the center hole, lightly gathering them. Glue the darker colored strips down first, then add lighter color strips on top.
8. Fluff, shape, and arrange the petals and stamens by hand. Attach the shade to the lamp cord and install the bulb.
