Evergreen kissing ball: supplies

  • Spruce sprigs
  • A piece of chicken wire
  • An oasis foam sphere (from a florist)
  • A spike or a large nail
  • Ribbon for hanging
  • Decorations

How to make a kissing ball

  1. Wrap a piece of chicken wire around the foam sphere to help hold the branches together, then tie a ribbon to the wire for hanging the kissing ball.
  2. Cut the branches to about 20 centimeters (8 in) in length.
  3. Use a spike to make holes about three centimeters (1 in) deep, then insert the branches into each hole. Fill the entire sphere evenly and maintain a round shape.
  4. Decorate however you like—sometimes a single bow is all you need. You can also create a stunning outdoor display by adding string lights to the kissing ball.

Tip!

When it’s time to take down decorations, gently remove the branches from the sphere so you can reuse the oasis foam sphere.
