Marjaana Lundberg didn’t want a typical, standard swimming pool that just made it easy to jump in for a swim. She wanted it to add personality to the backyard and evoke the warmth of faraway southern climes.

Marjaana spent a while browsing online for different options until she fell in love with a striking, kidney-shaped luxury pool. She was drawn to its beautiful, unconventional shape, but it required more planning than a straightforward installation. She took her time to figure out the best placement for the pool and its ideal size. In the end, she decided to add an extra meter to its length.

A large rock on the property was difficult to remove, which delayed the earthworks, leaving a big hole waiting nearly a year for the pool. In the end, it was worth the wait: the yard now feels like being abroad, and it has become a much more enjoyable place to spend time.

“The project was demanding and time-consuming because we didn’t want to rush any decisions. I’m also happy to invest more so I end up with a result that I truly love,” Marjaana says.

Two lounge chairs, a table, and a reed sunshade line the pool’s edge. A person sits at the edge, dipping their feet in the water.
The pool is a custom Waterair Celine model made of corrugated steel. It’s 7.59 meters long and 5.0 and 2.8 meters wide, with a middle depth of 1.7 meters. The bottom is curved and slopes toward the center. Retailer: Pihan Kuningatar specialty pool retailer.

It’s relaxing to lounge on the garden sofa and simply enjoy the view of the pool. There’s also a convenient poolside shower nearby.
The LED lights are installed along the side of the steps so you don’t have to step on them.
LED lighting is installed on the steps and at the opposite end of the pool. The Orbis model steps, which are 1.17 meters wide, have a textured surface. The gray liner makes the water appear light blue.
A plant’s shadow falls on the stone coping around the pool.
They planned to hide the sawn edges of the coping stones early on. Even though the natural stone coping added to the cost, it finishes the pool’s edge beautifully.
At the far end of the pool is a seating area and a low-profile building.
They wanted to conceal the equipment. The pool’s circulation pump was installed in the nearby garage. A control unit and a sand filter are also parts of the equipment.
