How to knit the Brioche cable scarf
Brioche stitch: In two-color brioche stitch, each row is worked twice. First, knit the row in beige, then return the sts to the start of the needle and knit the same row again in natural white. These different-colored rows, A and B, count as one row. Both sides share the same pattern, but the dominant color on the right side is natural white and on the wrong side, it is beige.
Cast on 58 sts with natural white.
Row 1A (RS): Use beige. P1, *slip 1 st with yo purlwise (= insert your needle into the st from the back, picking up the strand between sts at the same time, as if to purl), p1*, repeat *–* another 27 times, p1. Return all sts to the start of the needle.
Row 1B (RS): Use natural white. Slip the first st purlwise, *knit 1 st and a yo together, slip 1 st with yo purlwise*, repeat *–* 27 another times, then slip the last st purlwise. Turn.
Row 2A (WS): Use beige. Slip the first st knitwise (= as if to knit), *knit 1 st and a yo together, slip 1 st with yo purlwise*, repeat *–* another 27 times, then k1. Return all sts to the start of the needle.
Row 2B (WS): Use natural white. Slip the first st purlwise, *slip 1 st with yo purlwise, p 1 st and a yo together*, repeat *–* another 27 times, leave yarn in front, then slip the last st purlwise. Turn.
Row 3A (RS): Use beige. Slip the first st purlwise, *slip 1 st with yo purlwise, p 1 st and a yo together*, repeat *–* another 27 times, p1. Return all sts to the start of the needle.
Row 3B (RS): Using natural white, work as on row 1B.
Repeat rows 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B once more, then 2A and 2B once more. After that, begin the first cable row:
Row 7A (cable row): Use beige. Slip the first st purlwise, then work the brioche cable as follows: **Slip 4 sts onto cable needle and hold them in front (= 1 st, 1 st+yo, 1 st, 1 st+yo), *slip 1 st with yo purlwise, p 1 st and a yo together*, repeat *–* once more, then work the sts from the cable needle by repeating *–* twice. Work the next 8 sts by repeating *–* four times**, then repeat **–** 2 more times. Then work another brioche cable as before, and p the last st of the row.
Row 7B: Work as on row 1B. Then repeat rows 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B twice more. Finally, repeat rows 2A and 2B. Then work another cable row.
Row 13A: Use beige. Slip the first st purlwise, *slip 1 st with yo purlwise, p 1 st and a yo together*, repeat *–* another 3 times, then work the brioche cable: **Slip 4 sts onto cable needle and hold them in front (= 1 st, 1 st+yo, 1 st, 1 st+yo), repeat *–* twice, then work the sts from the cable needle by repeating *–* twice. Work the next 8 sts by repeating *–* four times**, then repeat **–** 2 more times, p1.
Row 13B: Work as on row 1B. Continue repeating rows 2–13 until the piece measures about 175–180 cm and you have worked row 7. Then repeat rows 2–3 three times. Bind off with natural white.

Finishing
Weave in the ends. Gently wash the finished scarf by hand in warm water with a little wool detergent. Rinse thoroughly and add a dash of fabric softener to the final rinse. Avoid using too much detergent. Lay the scarf flat to dry, adjusting it to the desired measurements.
