London & Miami

When the Finnish–Irish couple Tanja and Sean began decorating their new home in Utrecht, the Netherlands, they decided that whenever faced with two equally good options, they’d always choose the more colorful one. The guest bathroom became cozy when they wallpapered the upper part of the wall above the green subway tiles.

The bathroom features green subway tiles and a green cityscape wallpaper on the upper part of the wall.
The green ambiance of the guest bathroom reflects the couple’s years living in Arab countries, their work trips to Asia and Africa, and the influence of the rich and decorative British interior style. The wallpaper is ‘Miami’ by Cole & Son.

The common thread is blue

Known for her dresses, Marleena’s home in Kallio, Helsinki is a cozy two-room apartment for a young couple, where their love for colors is evident. The home is filled with colorful interior solutions, but wallpaper is found only in the bathroom!

Just like in a museum!

Suvi and Ilkka’s home is a former semi-detached house built in 1921 in Kotka. During renovation, they redid “everything possible,” while being mindful of the house’s age. The bathroom’s dark wallpaper is rich and bohemian with its large flowers, and Suvi’s love for museums is evident in the interior.

The black half-paneling highlights the striking floral wallpaper. Intriguing details such as miniature paintings, an old sink cabinet with golden details, and a horse statue complete the ensemble.

Magical atmosphere

In Raippaluoto, Korsholm, this home built in 2013 has the gable triangles of its high, slanted-ceiling bathroom wallpapered, creating an almost magical atmosphere.

Rustic romance

Hanna–Riikka and Sami bought an old parish hall, and have been renovating it for years into the home of their dreams for their blended family. The atmosphere of the bathroom is completed by a dark and dramatic floral wallpaper. “I absolutely wanted a window and a bathtub in the bathroom,” says Hanna–Riikka.

The black chest of drawers in the bathroom was originally purchased for the living room, but when Hanna–Riikka found the floral wallpaper for the bathroom, the original sink cabinet no longer suited, so the chest was turned into a sink counter.

A classic suits anywhere

Mari and Jussi bought an old inn in need of renovation as their first home. The bathroom of the hundred-year-old log house was turned into a WC. Accompanied by half-paneling is a classic William Morris wallpaper, which brings a nostalgic atmosphere to any space.

The renovated bathroom of the old house features a sink cabinet made from a chest of drawers and colorful William Morris wallpaper.
The former bathroom was turned into a spacious WC. The walls were built of wood and plywood. The bathroom’s sink cabinet, lights, and washbasin were acquired secondhand. The sink cabinet is a 1940s sideboard made in Finland, into which a spot was cut for the 1950s Arabia sink.

In the embrace of flowers

The dull-feeling bathroom of this family’s townhouse home in Helsinki was transformed into a sea of flowers when the walls were wallpapered with the ‘Leon’ wallpaper bought from Ellos.

A souvenir on the wall

Annika and Simo built a modern Ostrobothnian house in the landscapes of their childhood, in the village of Sokoja. Their dream house was filled with shades that had stuck with them from their travels, and the colorful wallpaper in the bathroom evokes thoughts of the jungle.

The bathroom fixtures were acquired from Huusholli Keittiöt in Kokkola. On the wall is the ‘Savuti’ wallpaper by Cole & Son, which is inspired by Africa’s most famous national park.
